...THE BELOVED (EPISODE FIVE)...

    Darlene is a fair pretty girl about seven years old, smart, outspoken and this endeared her to her teachers and peers. She is very loved and cherished by her parents, that sometimes her parents just looks at her and smile as her selfless qualities just warm their hearts. On this particular day, Darlene was so happy from the get-go of the morning and this spread across her face all day.

    She got to school pretty much early that day as she used to, dropped her bag on her seat and started rummaging through it humming a melodious tune from memory when her best friend Bonnie quietly walked into the classroom. Hey Darl, she said as she usually call her and she replied with a hearty Hi! She didn't even allow Bonnie drop her bag before she said', I'm going to have a younger brother soon or a sister, I'm not sure yet with her hands spread high in opposite directions. Bonnie responded with the same excitement and clapped for her friend, then said,' how I wish I have a younger sister too just like you, all puppy faced.

    While they were still in this happy mood, then walked in a several of their classmates shouting, jumping up and down, also walked in their friend Esther who quickly ran towards them as she screamed "Good morning"!! They responded with the same pitch and they all giggled. Esther now asked, Bee (as they fondly call Bonnie), how did you get to school earlier than me today? I wanted to get here before you but I guess I slept too long. Bee replied, sleepy head and Darlene added "sleepy sleepy" and they laughed.

    Suddenly, Darlene asked; guess what Esther? I'm going to have a baby brother soon and Bonnie added or sister because she doesn't know which one yet. Esther replied, Wow! I'm so happy for you, but remember you'll begin to share all your toys, food, sweets and other things with him or her very soon. You know I have a younger sister and it has been annoying, anything I hold and she begins to cry, my parents would tell me to give her as if I shouldn't have a share of it (with a frown) and the other two giggled due to her expression as she joined in.

    They kept talking about this and that as if there isn't going to be any lessons for that day. Darl was simply talking about the toys she would buy for her baby, how she will carry, feed and even play, she was just too excited, then all of a sudden Bonnie asked: Have you both done your homework? Darlene answered an affirmative 'YES', but Esther on the other hand screamed out loud "Oh my God", Nooo!! and the other two looked at each other and giggled covering their mouth to shield the sound so as not to make Esther feel bad for her situation.

Still, Darlene said: Mrs. Badmus will deal with you today, as Esther on the other hand ran to her bag to attend to the assignments. Darl and Bee looked on as she attends to her work and kindly made corrections when she does it wrong. While they were at it, the school bell was jingled-jangled for them to assemble, so they encouraged her to quickly wrap it up and set out for the assembly. But what happened next? Did Darlene's expectations come to reality? What was her reaction when she heard the news of her sibling twin birth? You need not stretch, the next episode will highlight all this...
